Management TeamThe success of our group can be directly attributed to the high quality of leadership and the strength of our management team. Our goal is to ensure the continued success of our financial representatives by providing the proper guidance and support to help them experience both personal and professional growth.  Matthew R KruegerManaging Director Matt Krueger grew up in Marshall, WI and took part in a two-year Business Management program at Madison Area Technical College (MATC). He entered the career world as a Retail Sales Manager and continued in this role for 10 years. Looking for a new career, he entered the Hotel/Restaurant business until his friend referred him to Northwestern Mutual. Matt describes his career as a puzzle because the relationships he makes with people connect each day to the next. He chose to join the Leadership Team to give back to others and continue to lead by example. Matt served as a College Unit Director in 2007-2008 before becoming a Managing Director in December 2008. Matt has received the National Sales Achievement Award (NSAA) as well as qualifying for the Million Dollar Round Table for the past three years. He is an active member in the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, GAMA International, South Central Wisconsin Builders Association (SCWBA), Forward Janesville, and Junior Achievement.  Michael ScherManaging Director Mike graduated from UW-Whitewater in 2002 with a degree in Marketing. He was introduced to Northwestern Mutual through the internship program in his junior year at Whitewater. Less than a year after graduation, Mike returned to Northwestern Mutual as a full time Financial Representative. Mike is currently the Managing Director of the Watertown Office. In this position Mike balances his own personal production and managing a district network office. Mike qualified for Million Dollar Round Table in three of his first five years in the business.  Joshua KosnickField Director Josh Kosnick was born in Ottawa, IL and grew up in Champaign and Peoria as the oldest of four children to a Northwestern Mutual Financial Representative, and later Managing Partner of the Kosnick Financial Group- Steven H. Kosnick & his wife Denise. Josh began his career as a Financial Representative with the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in January 2005. He is currently a Recruiting Field Director and assists in the areas of selection, training, and development of other full-time Financial Representatives. Josh will be opening a new district office on the eastside of Madison in the spring of 2010.  Cheryl VandenburgtDirector of Development Cheryl is a graduate of St. Norbert College with a double major in Psychology and Vocal Performance. Upon moving to Madison, she held a management position in the non-profit sector for 8 years prior to being introduced to the Northwestern Mutual. She was recruited to the Kosnick Financial Group in 1998. There, Cheryl began her career as the Director of Recruitment, overseeing all recruiting, training and licensing for both Full time and Intern Representatives. In her tenure with the Network, she has recruited over 175 Full time and intern Financial Reps. In 2007, Cheryl was appointed as Executive Director of Development and currently oversees all aspects of recruiting, training and development of Financial Representatives and Leadership Development for the overall Agency. Cheryl is a Certified Coach, working with both new and veteran Representatives. She is often requested to speak at the regional and national levels. Cheryl is passionate about helping others find this amazing career and find their true success within the Northwestern Mutual family.
Cheryl is married with 2 children and in her spare time, enjoys singing with the Madison Opera and the Madison Symphony.
